How to install it on an Android TV or a Fire TV

A television has no browser, so the file is downloaded with an app called Downloader, which is in the device’s own store.

  1. Install Downloader from Google Play or the Amazon store.
  2. Allow it to install apps: Settings → Apps → Security & restrictions → Unknown sources, and turn Downloader on. On Fire TV it is Settings → My Fire TV → Developer options.
  3. Open Downloader and type row1.net/tv
  4. When it finishes, press Install. You can delete the file afterwards.
  5. You will find it under Apps → Your apps, not on the home screen.
That last step catches people out: on Google TV the home screen is curated by Google, and anything you install yourself lands in the apps list. It does not mean the install failed.

About the security warnings

On Android you will see an “unknown sources” warning and on Windows a SmartScreen one. They appear for any program that does not come from the system’s own store, and say nothing about the program itself.
